Jamie Scott AKA Jay Sownds is an ambitious south coast DJ/Producer, known for supplying a diverse selection of deep, funky and soul fused electronic music.
From an early age, Jay developed an appreciation of Jazz and Funk music from listening to his father’s records by musicians such as George Benson.
He is originally from Essex where he was also influenced by his involvement in the flourishing UK Garage scene of the time. Jamie moved to Bournemouth where he studied music at College and began DJing regularly at venues that included So Bar, Dusk 'til Dawn, Censo and Hampton’s Lounge Bar. More recently, Jay has been involved with hosting the VIP room at the Lava Ignite club, promoting a night with Scott "It’s a London Thing" Garcia. He has also hosted a 4-hour radio show on Bournemouth’s Deep Blue FM, playing House, Breaks, Garage and Drum & Bass, with studio guests that have included Aquasky.
In 2007, he spent several months in Cyprus where he continued to DJ and promote, setting up three separate club nights at popular venues. His Djing continues to gain a following, featuring on club line-ups at the Orange Rooms, Rhino's, Buddha Lounge and Seymour’s.
He has established resident slots at popular nights that include Good Gig, Wax and Rehab. Jay relocated to Southampton where he studies a music production degree, which has assisted him to take his production to the next level. By the end of the first year he received recognition for his new soulful house productions, with support from DJ Footloose, Scott Tonic and Scott Garcia. His funky tracks have also received airtime on BBC 1xtra and The Fire.
