Jim 'Shaft' Ryan - the man behind Moneypenny's
Plays: House
Jim started his DJ career as a DJ back in the halcyon days of dance music in the late 80s, with a passport that now reads like an atlas after DJing the world over. He has played at the worlds most prolific nightclubs from the early nineties at the infamous Hacienda in Manchester to his 13 year residency at Ibiza’s superclub El Divino.
He has an unparalleled understanding of music and therefore can adapt to most dancefloors in any given situation to guarantee a satisfied crowd, mixing perfectly from soulful house to a darker minimal techy style. The only rule he will follow is the music must have an element of funk and work the dancefloor. He also extends his DJ work to present his own weekly radio show that is currently syndicated in 32 countries worldwide.
As a producer and remixer Jim produces and records under the moniker of Zoned Out and has been accredited to a string of successful dance music hits, most recently on Lady Ga Ga’s – ‘Just Dance’. As well as working on forthcoming releases for Beyonce Knowles, Solange Knowles, Yoko Ono, Kelly Rowland and Ashanti.
Jim is probably best known and identified for his Miss Moneypennys and Chuff Chuff brands, of which he is creative and musical director. With events held in all four corners of the globe, the brand has universal recognition for glitz and glamour.
Miss Moneypennys also extends into a record label – Miss Moneypenny’s Music, which has released 16 compilation albums to date all of which produced, programmed and mixed by Jim. Miss Moneypenny’s Music has also enjoyed chart success that includes a Top 10 hit in 2005 with Tom Novy’s ‘ Your Body ‘.
With his fingers in all these pies, Jim is one of the busiest men in the industry. He is a dominant force within the business and well respected by all his peers. Despite being in the business for over 20 years he is still every bit as passionate for the music, breaking new talent and recreating the Miss Moneypenny’s and Chuff Chuff party model.
